Frank Darmiento
FRANK DARMIENTO has played music professionally for more than 50 years. He is a 1967 graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York where he studied music composition with Edgar Curtis and was awarded the Richmond Prize in Music. He later studied music composition with Wendell Margrave in Washington, D.C. He has led jazz and classical ensembles ranging from duos to symphony orchestras.
As a trombonist, Mr. Darmiento is a regular performer on the Arizona jazz scene, both as a leader of his own groups, and as a sideman. He also performs regularly with classical and show groups. Besides trombone, he performs on classical guitar, electric bass, vibraphone and euphonium. He is principal trombonist with the Chandler Symphony Orchestra (Chandler, Arizona), co-leader of the brass quintet, Optima Brass and a member of the Scottsdale Concert Band (Arizona). He was lead trombone for Grant Wolf’s Valley Big Band for 15 years. He has been a concert soloist on trombone, euphonium and classical guitar. He is also the music director and conductor of La Forza Chamber Orchestra.
His jazz quartet CD, Sudden Impact, was released on the Summit Records label.
