Lisa Tharp

Lisa Tharp is a talented pianist and flutist with over 25 years of experience performing and teaching. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University, a Master of Music Performance from Wichita State University, and a Master of Libraries and Information Science from the University of Arizona. Lisa also completed graduate courses in Learning Theory.

Lisa studied piano pedagogy at WSU, where she taught class piano and private lessons as Adjunct Faculty. During that time, Lisa also maintained a studio of piano and flute students of all ages. Lisa's primary piano teacher was Robert Roux. She studied with him at WSU. She continued her studies with him at Arizona State University in the doctoral performance program. Lisa loves enabling students through logical and customized learning strategies. She excels in problem solving practice techniques.

Lisa has participated in many premieres of new music of contemporary American composers such as Samuel Adler, Arthur Weisberg, Warren Cohen and Daniel Asia.

She loves dogs, mystery reading, coffee and long-distance cycling.
