Andante and Allegro for clarinet with piano accompaniment by Ernest Chausson

Andante and Allegro for clarinet with piano accompaniment by Ernest Chausson edited by Robert Fontaine. Billaudot, 1977, SS, 20 + 4 pages. A two-part (obviously) piece written in 1881 as a submission for the Prix de Rome competition. The Andante begins in a beautiful and lyrical fashion, than gains in speed and intensity before a brief conclusion by the piano at the original tempo. The Allegro (Allegro Assai) moves along at a rapid tempo and is distinguished by its frequent use of triplet figures. Marked with a duration of 9:30, our recordings are 8:06 and 8:24. An early college level piece. (C0535)
