Clarinet Concerto Op. 3 (Piano Reduction) by Alun Hoddinott. Oxford University Press/Allegro Music, 1955/1964, SS, 22 + 7 pages. Alun Hoddinott (1929-2008), was the first Welsh composer of classical music to receive international recognition. This piece for clarinet in A and orchestra was first performed in 1954 by Gervase de Peyer. In three movements: I. Capriccio (Allegro giocoso), Arioso (Lento con malinconia), and III. Burlesca (Allegro piacevole). This concerto has excellent music and, although the work can be played by advanced college students, the piece should be considered for professional recitals. Duration about 13:00. (C1338)
