Concertino for Clarinet and String Quartet by Bright Sheng

Concertino for Clarinet and String Quartet by Bright Sheng. G. Schirmer, 1997, SS, (includes parts and score). This piece was commissioned and written for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and its Artistic Director, David Shifrin. The materials of this work are drawn from fragments of folk tunes the composer heard while living in the northwest part of China. Unlike most Chinese folk music this music has a seven-note scale similar to the mixolydian mode. In four movements: I. Andante, II. Prestissimo, and III. Largo. Both B-flat and A clarinets are needed. This is a professional level work with a duration about 17 minutes. (C0761)
