Francisco Asenjo Barbieri (1823-1894) studied composition, piano, and clarinet and Madrid Conservatory. He was a struggling musician until 1846 when is situation began to improve and he could concentrate on composing. These pieces are taken from a collection of exam pieces between 1857 and 1877 in which only clarinet parts remain. These were probably sight reading pieces from 1863 exams. The piano parts have been recreated for this publication. They are Minueto (Andantino), Ariette (Allegro moderato), Intermezzo (Moderato), and Canzonetta (Andante/Più mosso). Total duration of about 5 minutes with the Canzonetta longer than the others combined. Advaced high school/early college level. (C1525)
