Czernowitzer Skizzen (Chernivtsi Sketches) for Clarinet Quartet by Alexander Kukelka. Doblinger, 2015, SS, parts only. For 2 B-flat Clarinets, Bassethorn (alternate part for Alto Clarinet), and Bass Clarinet. For 150 years ending in 1918 Chernivtsi was the crossroads between West and East in Eastern Europe. Then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire Chernivtsi is now in the Western Ukraine. These sketches capture the polyglot mix of German, Jewish, Polish, Romanian, and Ruthenian cultures from that place. The work has 12 pieces, generally at the college level although some are a bit easier (C2438)
