Divertissement Aspenois for Unaccompanied Clarinet in B-flat by Victor Babin

Divertissement Aspenois for Unaccompanied Clarinet in B-flat by Victor Babin. Drapkin Music Publications, 2019, SS, 7 pages. Victor Babin (1908-1972), best known as half of the great Vronsky & Babin Piano Duo (with his wife, the highly successful pianist Vitya Vronsky), also arranged and composed for various settings. His Divertissement Aspenois, a virtuosic tribute to the eminent clarinetist Reginald Kell, may have been inspired by hearing Kell play Stravinsky's Three Pieces at Aspen, where they both performed. This is a challenging work in four sections: I. Humoresque, II. Siciliana à L'Anglaise, III. Rondino, and IV Dithyramb. It was written in 1951. (C2713)
