Four Icelandic Folksongs for Clarinet and Piano by Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson

Four Icelandic Folksongs for Clarinet and Piano by Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson. Norsk Musikforlag A/S, 1986, SS, 8 + 3 pages. Thorkell Sigurbjörnsson (1938-) is an Icelandic composer. He studied in Reykjavik and the USA and has worked in Reykjavik as a teacher, critic and broadcaster. He is internationally known as a pianist and composer: his works are in diverse styles and genres, tending to assimilate seemingly unrelated elements. These four short pieces are somewhat easier than the composer's Rek. While none have time signatures, this is only a mild challenge in the third piece. Better high school players and above who are looking for something different. Duration about 7 minutes. (C1521)
