La Unión (Cumbia/Merenge) Clarinet Quartet by Mauricio Murcia Bedoya

La Unión (Cumbia/Merenge) Clarinet Quartet by Mauricio Murcia Bedoya. Woodwindiana, 2010, SS, (includes parts and score). This quartet is for four B-flat clarinets. The Cumbia originated as a courtship dance in Colombia's Caribbean coastal region, from the musical and cultural fusion of Native Colombian, African, and Spanish influences. With its heraldic, canonic opening and driving rhythms, this ABA, 3:27 curtain raiser will delight both players and audiences alike. The complex and challenging Latin rhythms are not for the faint-hearted! Rhythms aside, it is not technically difficult. (C1962)
