Mr. Thomaskantor à la J.S. Bach for clarinet in A or B-flat and piano by Béla Kovács. EditionDarok, 2012(?), SS, 6 + 3 pages. The Thomaskantor is the musical director of the Thomanerchor in Leipzig, founded in 1212. He is appointed by Leipzig's city council and his duties are to lead the weekly services called Motette, Sunday services and other services in the Thomaskirche. Johann Sebastian Bach was the most famous Thomaskantor, he served from 1723 to 1750. The composer writes that the music of Bach inspired him to compose this piece. It begins with a brief Adagio which is followed by Allegro assai (mm = 140). The A part in one flat will be preferred over the B-flat part with four sharps. Early college level with a duration of 3:30. The A clarinet version is the same Hommage à J.S. Bach with a few articulation changes and tempo additions. (C1887)
