Passacaglia Clarinet Ensemble by Ferenc Farkas. Metropolis, 2017, SS, includes parts and score. For Clarinet Sextet or Ensemble. Part are supplied for E-flat Clarinet, 2 B-flat Clarinets, Basset Horn (alternate parts for Alto Clarinet and B-flat Clarinet) and Bass Clarinets, and Contrabass Clarinet (alternate part for Contralto). Ferenc Farkas (1905-2000) was a Hungarian composer. This piece which was originally a student work for orchestra. In 1968 the composer transcribed it for organ and at an unknown date created this version for 6 clarinets. Given the instrumentation is most likely an early college level piece. In the shape of an arch, the work is based on a theme that is repeated thirteen times. Piano initially it evolves in crescendo to a climax in the 33rd bar, then falls gradually to a gentle end.
