Robin Milford (1903-1959) was an English composer whose style was entirely his own although it lies on a continuum between the work of his close friend Gerald Finzi and that of Vaughan Williams. The Quintet is full of wonderful tunes as well as robust and characteristic writing for both the clarinet and strings. This piece is sectional shifting primarily between Adagio and Allegro.
