Romanza for Bass Clarinet and Piano by Bartolomé Pérez Casas

Romanza for Bass Clarinet and Piano by Bartolomé Pérez Casas edited by Pedro Rubio. Bassus Ediciones Musicales, 2007, SS, 4 + 1 pages. Bartolomé Pérez Casas (1873-1956) was the conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Madrid as well as a composer, educator, and clarinetist. Originally for cello this short piece was written in 1917. In 3/4 time and Andantino tempo, it opens and closes with lyrical cantabile sections which frame the middle section of arpeggio figures. Alternatives are provided for the four measures that dip into the extended range. (C1085)
