In her foreword Pamela Weston said, "James Waterson (1834-1893) wrote quite prolifically for the clarinet. His compositions include four quartets, three trios, numbers duets, solos and studies. Many of these have the appellation 'Grand,' and grand they are in technical structure and value for the clarinet player. . ." In three movements: I. Allegretto scherzando, II.
