Eugene Hartzell (1932-2000) was born and studied in the United States (through a MM at Yale) but spent most of the rest of his life in Austria. He studied with Hans Erich Apostel, a pupil of Arnold Schönberg and Alban Berg. This piece is in three movements: I. Adagio molto (but with many tempo changes), II. Andante, and III. Vivo (includes several sections with no meter). Advanced level and about 18 minutes in duration. (C0625)
