Sonata in A Minor for Bass Clarinet or Contrabass Clarinet in B-flat and Piano by Benedetto Marcello transcribed and edited by David L. Hite. Southern Music Co., 1964, SS, 6 + 2 pages. Benedetto Marcello (1686-1739) was an Italian composer, writer, lawyer, magistrate, and teacher. This piece was originally for cello but has been transcribed for many lower range instruments. In three movements: I. Adagio/Allegro, II. Largo, and III. Allegro. There are a couple of low Ds in the first movement with the note up an octave also given. The editor has provided suggested tempo markings and some performance notes. Publisher's (US) grade 3 (certainly on the upper end) with a duration of 5:30.  (C1860)
