The Siberian born composer Edison Denisov (1929-1996) was one of the most innovative Russian composers of his generation. Much of his woodwind music employs extended techniques as does the second movement of this sonata. This is an advanced work in three movements: I. Allegro, II. Lento, and III. Allegro moderato.
