Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Antoni Szalowski

Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Antoni Szalowski. Chester, 1948, SS, 15 + 6 pages. Antoni Szalowski (1907-1973) was a Polish composer who studied in Warsaw and Paris (with Boulanger). This piece was composed in 1936. In three movements: I. Allegro non troppo, II. Larghetto, and III. Finale (Allegro). Prof. Heim wrote: "A relatively short piece with clear, concise form, conservative harmonic and melodic language and is written with a complete understanding of both instruments. One of the best pieces in clarinet repertoire; can be used for training purposes at the college level but is also excellent recital literature for advanced performers. . . a gem of the repertoire."
