Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Malcolm Arnold

Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Malcolm Arnold. Lengnick, 1951, SS, 16 + 7 pages. This piece is in three movements: Allegro con brio, Andantino, and Furioso with the middle movement as a quiet interlude between powerful outer movements. It is tonal but with some dissonance. The clarinet part is well written, with many repeated figurations, and the range spans two and one-half registers. The Sonatina is similar in style and difficulty to Arnold's Concerto and is excellent repertoire for the college clarinetist and is also suitable for professional recitals. (C0611)
