Sonatine Sportive for Alto Saxophone and Piano by Alexandre Tcherepnine

Sonatine Sportive for Alto Saxophone and Piano by Alexandre Tcherepnine. Alphonse Leduc, 1943, SS, 10 + 4 pages. This piece is unusual in that it has a sports theme. The first movement (Lutte) is a boxing match between the saxophone and the piano (with the audience to decide the winner). The second movement (Mi-temps) is a rest the two players are taking in the midst of the competition. The third movement (Course) is a race in the form of canon with the saxophone in the lead and the piano trying to catch up. This college level piece should be very entertaining.
