Suite No. Op. 61 "Mozartiana" transposed part for Clarinet 1 in A Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky arranged by Charles Salinger. Northeastern Music Publishing/Roncorp, 2011, SS, 8 pages. One of the important works likely to appear on any clarinetist's audition list is Tchaikovsky's homage to his music idol, Mozart. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mozart's Don Giovanni, Tchaikovsky chose a number of the master's lesser-known pieces, wrapping them in his own signature arranging and orchestration. Clarinetist Charles Salinger has created his own transposition of the clarinet part for Clarinet in A. In the original work the first and second movements are for A clarinet (reproduced here). The third and fourth movements have been transposed. The third was originally for B-flat clarinet and the fourth was for C clarinet. The transposition of the final movement, which includes a clarinet solo, will be especially useful for those who don't own a C clarinet. (C2662)
