1st Sonate Op. 85 for Clarinet and Orchestra (version for clarinet and piano) by Charles Koechlin. Billaudot, 1993, SS, 14 + 6 pages. Charles Koechlin (1867-1950) was a French composer. This edition includes parts for B-flat clarinet (0-6 sharps) and an alternate part for A clarinet (2 sharps to 5 flats). It was written in 1923 and is dedicated to Gaston Hamelin. It is in three movements: I. Allegro, II. Andante quasi adagio, and III. Final (Allegro moderato san lenteur, bien allant mais sans précipiter le rythme). There is quite a bit of mixed meter but all of the whole beat variety. The duration is 9 minutes. College level. (C1988)
