Ignacio Cervantes (1847-1905) is one of the most important 19th century musicians in Cuba. This book has 27 of his 40 Danzas originally composed for piano. Twenty-five have been arrange for clarinet and piano and two have been arranged for clarinet quartet (SSAB). There are copies of the quartets (2 pages in score format) in both the piano part and the clarinet part, so you would probably need to make two photocopies to play them. They are short. The CD has the 25 dances for clarinet and piano with a complete performance featuring the arranger on clarinet and a play along version with only the piano. A variety of tempos, keys, and rhythms make this suitable for better high school level clarinetists and up. (C2131)
