A Short Quintet in E-flat for Clarinet and String Quartet by Richard Walthew. Rosewood, 1997/2012, SS, includes parts and score. Richard Walthew (1872-1951) was a British composer with a special affinity for chamber music. This piece was was written in 1917 and was commissioned by the well known amateur clarinetist Oscar W. Street Esq. While it is written as one continuos movement there are fermatas and one grand pause between sections. Having been lost for many years after last known performance in 1937, the manuscript parts were found in the 1980s and have finally been typeset. Early college level with an estimated duration of around 15 minutes. (C2076)_
