His early style was influenced by Igor Stravinsky, Béla Bartók and Paul Hindemith. Later he became atonal, and sometimes serial. Amicizia is the Italian word for friendship. This is a contemporary piece for solo clarinet at the upper college level. It includes altissimo to B-flat but no extended techniques. There are three written movements with the first movement repeated to make four: I. (and IV.) amabile, II. drammatico, III. scherzando. Duration is about 8 minutes. (C1395)
