Hilarión Eslava y Elizondo (1807-1878) was a Spanish priest who wrote many religious pieces, three operas, and several instrumental works such as this one which was probably written around 1844. It was originally for clarinet and string orchestra and has been arranged for clarinet and piano by Rubio and Ana Benavides. In two movements Andante (6/8) and Allegro con brio (4/4), it finishes with a flourish of 32nd note triplet figures. College level with a duration of about 6:50. (C1082)
