Bach Goes to Town by Alec Templeton arranged for four clarinets by Henry Brant. Emerson Edition, 2001, SS, (includes parts and score). Alec Templeton (1909-1963) was born in Wales and although blind from birth, studied piano and composition at the Royal College of Music in London. He moved to the United States in 1935 and was very successful as a pianist and entertainer. This piece, which was first published in 1938 and is subtitled "Prelude and Fugue in Swing," is typical of his compositions. Advanced high school/early college level with a duration of 3:45. While this is was written for four B-flat clarinets the fourth part can be played on bass clarinet. (C0928)
