Miguel Yuste (1870-1947) was a Spanish clarinetist, composer, conductor, and educator. Pintoresco means "colorful." This piece was a competition work which starts with a rhapsodic Adagio section followed by a longer section with first a scherzo, then a more expressive theme and finally an extended coda which accelerates to the climax.
