Concertante Op. 7/8 Suite for Harp, Basset Horn (or Viola), and Violoncello ad libitum by Heinrich Backofen edited by Anna Pasetti

Concertante Op. 7/8 Suite for Harp, Basset Horn (or Viola), and Violoncello ad libitum by Heinrich Backofen edited by Anna Pasetti. Ut Orpheus Edizioni, 2007, SS. includes parts and harp score. Heinrich Backofen (1768-1839) was a German composer, harpist and clarinetist. This piece was written for the hook harp (photo) which employed hooks to adjust the pitch of a string. The pedal harp existed at the same time but some players thought the hook harp was superior. The music is in two parts: Allegro and Theme and (6) Variations. The cello part is mostly reinforcement for the harp but is not exactly the same. Here is an audio recording without the cello but with the some added ornamentation and articulation. (C2245)
