Karol Kurpiński (1785- 1857) was a Polish composer, conductor and pedagogue. Kurpiński was one of the most honored and important Polish composer before Frédéric Chopin. Only the first movement of the Clarinet Concerto which was first performed in 1823 has survived. It is in the sonata allegro form with three themes. The work was popularized by Józef Madeja, who played it frequently, edited it and provided it with a virtuoso cadenza. College level with a duration of about 13 minutes. (C2106)
