Concerto for Clarinets for Clarinet and Piano by Alexis Ciesla. Advance Music, 2014, SS, 39 + 15 pages. Alexis Ciesla is a French clarinetist and composer. This is a version of a piece for solo clarinets and clarinet choir published in 2012 (listed here). It is intended for the soloist to play B-flat clarinet, bass clarinet, basset horn, and E-flat clarinet in turn but there is an alternate solo part for B-flat for all movements. The first movement is a Fantasia. The second movement is a Habañera. There are two notes in the extended bass clarinet range with alternates give. The third movement for basset horn is a Scherzo. There are no notes in the extended (basset) range. The last movement is a Tarentella for E-flat clarinet. This is an upper college level piece. (C2138)
