Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major for Clarinet and Orchestra (Piano Reduction) by Ernesto Cavallini

Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major for Clarinet and Orchestra (Piano Reduction) by Ernesto Cavallini edited by Davide Pedrazzini. Edizioni Musicali Eufonia, SS, 18 + 11 pages. The preface by Luigi Magistrelli (in Italian and English) provides a brief biography of Cavallini. It also describes this piece of which this is the first publication since the original in 1845 as using Weber as a model and writing "with typical Italian bel canto lines and tricky technical passages, [it was] composed and conceived for his own [Cavallini's] virtuoso qualities." It is in the theme and variation form (one reference calls this a operatic fantasy based on a theme from Joseph Weigl) with an opening Allegro, then Adagio assai followed by a cadenza, and then the theme (Andantino). This is followed by four virtuoso variations and a concluding coda. College level. We can order the orchestral parts (1/2/2/2 2/0/0/0 Strings Timpani) for this piece. (C1616)
