Khayyam for Clarinet and Orchestra (Piano Reduction) by Fazil Say. Schott, SS, 2013, 42 + 20 pages. Fazil Say (1970-) is a Turkish composer and pianist. This work was written for Sabine Meyer on a commission from the 2011 Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival. It refers to the life and work of the eleventh century Persian poet Omar Khayyam. It reflects the stages of his life and his love for his wife which was reflected in his poetry. In three movements: I. Allegro, II. Andantino - Allegretto, and III. Andante. It has sections with complex meters such as 24/16 (with subdivisions). The duration is 32 minutes. (C2056)
