Kol Nidrei Op. 47 arranged for Bass Clarinet Solo and Clarinet Choir by Max Burch arranged by Malcolm Katzen. Cimarron Music Press, 2013, includes score and all parts. The Kol Nidrei begins the evening service at the start of Yom Kippur. In the 16th century, a Cantor in Germany composed a melody for this prayer which Bruch used as the basis for his Adagio on Hebrew Melodies for Violoncello and Orchestra. This arrangement is for solo bass clarinet and a clarinet choir of E-flat clarinet, 5 B-flat clarinets, alto clarinet, bass clarinet and contrabass (in B-flat) clarinet. It can probably be performed with a minimum choir of 5 B-flat clarinets and bass clarinet. The solo part utilizes the normal range of the bass clarinet from low E, but some optional 8vb at the end would take it into the extended range. (C2378)
