Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713) was an Italian who was a highly influential and successful violinist and composer of Baroque music. La Folia originated as a Spanish or Portuguese folk tune which became popular during the Renaissance and Baroque periods as the basis of theme and variation compositions.
