Los Angeles Sketches by Kenneth Lowman

Los Angeles Sketches by Kenneth Lowman. Western Internatonal Music, 1967, SS, (score included). For three B-flat clarinets and bass clarinet. We found some dates for the composer (1916-2001) but haven't found anything else about him. In three movements: Woodland Hillbilly, Echo Park, and Olvera Street. For those not familiar with Los Angeles, Woodland Hills is a community in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, northwest of Beverly Hills. Echo Park is a community in Los Angeles which is northwest of downtown and west of the Dodger Stadium area. It was the original location of film making before the studios moved to Hollywood. Olvera Street, the heart of the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument, is located to the west of Union Station. In 1930, it was converted to a colorful Mexican marketplace which is also the setting for Mexican style music and dancing and holiday celebrations, such as Cinco de Mayo. Olvera Street is probably the most engaging piece in this suite and can be performed by itself. (C1303)
