Melody of Love by Hans Engelmann

Melody of Love by Hans Engelmann arranged for Clarinet Quartet by Gareth Brady. Comus Edition, 1990, includes parts and score. Of all the popular tunes in this series this is the one that is before my time, at least as a listener. Research reveals that the music was written by Engelmann in 1903 and lyrics were added in 1954. In 1955 it became an instrumental hit for Billy Vaughn and for several vocal groups. The arrangement is for 3 B-flat clarinets and bass clarinet (with an alternate fourth part for B-flat clarinet). This alternate part is slightly different than the bass part. The bass clarinet part is in bass clef although in the score it is in treble clef. The melody is passed around in this arrangement which is at the high school level. (C1594)
