Monologue 13, Configurations for Bass Clarinet by Eugene Hartzell

Monologue 13, Configurations for Bass Clarinet by Eugene Hartzell. Doblinger, 1983, SS, 4 pages. Eugene Hartzell (1932-2000) was born and studied in the United States (through a MM at Yale) but spent most of the rest of his life in Austria. He studied with Hans Erich Apostel, a pupil of Arnold Schönberg and Alban Berg. Written in 1980, this piece for solo bass clarinet has "with Harry Sparnaay in mind" printed above the title. An advanced piece, much of it without bar lines and with lots of altissimo. (C0626)
