Museum Pieces for Clarinet and String Quartet (Parts) by Phillip Rhodes. C.F. Peters, 1978, SS. Phillip Rhodes (1940-) is an American composer and music educator. This piece was commissioned by the J.B. Speed Art Museum of Louisville for the dedication of the Hattie Bishop Speed Music Room. The movements in this work are based on works of art in the museum (there are pictures in the score). They are: I. Equestrian Bronze (Furioso), II. The "Pierrot" Music Box (Waltz tempo), III. Landscape-Seurat (Miniature), IV. Station of the Cross-Chassériau (Rondo with Chorale Variations), V. Le Bouquet-Picasso (Fast), and VI. A Bacchanal (Giocoso). The parts have been made from the score but are completely readable. An advanced work with a duration of 17:30. (C0856)
