Hindemith, an excellent clarinetist, composed this work in January 1927 for himself and his wife Getrude who was trained as an actress, singer and cellist, and who could also play double bass. The private nature of these compositions is underlined by the fact that all the dynamic and tempi markings are missing. There are nine short pieces: 1. Untitled, 2.
