Quintett Op. 30 for Clarinet in B-flat and E-flat and String Quartet by Paul Hindemith

Quintett Op. 30 for Clarinet in B-flat and E-flat and String Quartet by Paul Hindemith. Schott, 1986, SS, (parts only). Written in 1923, the quintet has five movements: Sehr Lebhaft, Ruhig, Schneller Ländler, Arioso, and Sehr lebhaft. The third movement is for clarinet in E-flat. The first movement is contrapuntal; the second begins with a beautiful viola solo, joined by the cello; the third is a Ländler, a dance movement; the fourth is very short and the fifth is related to the first movement. The clarinet is part of the ensemble, rather than solo with accompaniment, except in the first and last movements. This is a fine work requiring excellent string players. (C0854)
