Sonata in A minor "Arpeggione" for B flat Clarinet and Piano by Franz Schubert arranged by Douglas Woodfull-Harris. Baerenreiter (BA5682), 1970, SS, 24 + 11 pages. The arpeggione was an instrument similar to guitar but played with a bow that enjoyed a very brief period of popularity in the early 1820s. When it was originally published in 1871 it included a part for the violin (which has a very similar range to the clarinet). Thus it has been considered appropriate for the clarinet and many arrangements have been made over the years. In this edition, the editor has chosen to keep the work in its original key and use the piano part from the authoritative New Schubert Edition. (C0525)
