Sonate in G Major for Piano and Clarinet in A by Gustav Jenner edited by Horst Heussner. Schott, 1987, SS, 36 + 10 pages. Gustav Jenner (1865-1920) was a German composer who studied with Brahms and directed choral groups in Vienna. This work which was first performed in 1899 by Richard Mühlfeld. It is in four movements: Allegro moderato e grazioso, Adagio espressivo, Allegretto grazioso, and Allegro energiro. Professor Heim wrote that although deeply influenced by the Brahms style (of of similar difficulty), the work stands on its own merit. This is a major work, meriting performance by the professional recitalist. Duration of 25 minutes. (C1191)
