Sonatina for Clarinet Solo Op. 27 by Miklos Rozsa

Sonatina for Clarinet Solo Op. 27 by Miklos Rozsa. Rongwen Music, 1958, SS, 11 pages. Dedicated to Bronislau Kaper. In two movements: Tema con variazioni and Vivo e giocoso. The first movement is a theme with seven variations while the second is in rondo-scherzo style but ends with a 5/8 vivace section. Dr. Heim wrote, "There are romantic moments when lyrical but, in general, the music is neo-classic, similar to music prevalent between the two world wars. Rhythm is usually conservative except in variation six of the first movement. The use of the clarinet is simple, but there are moments with great flourish and bravura. An advanced college level student will find this work challenging." (C0614)
