Sonatine for Clarinet and Piano by Pierre Gabaye

Sonatine for Clarinet and Piano by Pierre Gabaye. Leduc, 1959, SS, 19 + 8 pages. Pierre Gabaye (1930-2000) studied under Aubin at the Paris Conservatory. He is most noted for his works for wind instruments with piano. In three movements: Allegro, Largo and Prestissimo. The first movement is in the style of a prelude; the second movement is florid; while third movement is like a rondo. The clarinet part requires ample technique; although range is limited mostly to the lower two registers. The piano part has the greater challenge; requiring a strong, mature performer. This is good material for the college level player. (C0897)
