Three Studies on Flight for Solo Clarinet by Russell Riepe. Southern Music, 1979, SS, 7 pages. Russell Riepe (1945-) is an American composer who holds a Ph.D. in composition from Eastman and studied with Nadia Boulanger. He is Professor and Coordinator of Music Composition Programs at the Texas State University, San Marcos. This work was first performed in 1976 by David Pino who has written some performance notes. It is a contemporary piece in three movements: I. "Your laughter frees me and lends me wings" (Fast and joyful), II. "I wandered lonely as a cloud" (Slow; drifting); and III. "Wild Spirit . . . moving everywhere" (Very fast and spirited). (C1335)
