Tributes for Clarinet and Piano by Edward Gregson

Tributes for Clarinet and Piano by Edward Gregson. Novello, 2011, SS, 24 + 10 pages. Edward Gregson (1945-) is an English composer best know for his concertos. This work is similar in concept to the Kovacs Hommages. It includes five pieces: 1. to Francis Poulenc for Emma Johnson, 2. To Gerald Finzi for John Bradbury, 3. to Igor Stravinsky for Linda Merrick, 4. to Oliver Messiaen (after "Louange à l'Éternité de Jésus") for Nicholas Cox, and 5. to Béla Bartók for Michael Collins. The first four Tributes have clarinet parts that are one or two pages in length while the last is four pages. There is some variation in difficulty with the Finzi and Meassiaen pieces being the easiest. (C2176)
