The "2.5" strength indicates the reed's stiffness. A 2.5 is a popular intermediate strength, offering a good balance of resistance and playability. It's often chosen by developing players or those seeking a versatile reed that provides a clear tone and consistent response without being too hard or too soft.

Vandoren Traditional reeds are known for producing a very pure, warm, and even tone. The filed cut contributes to a clear, immediate response across all registers of the bass clarinet. This classic sound makes them a favorite among students and professionals alike for orchestral, band, and solo performances.

These reeds are ideal for intermediate players, serious students, and even professionals who prefer a medium-soft reed with a consistent response. The 2.5 strength offers a comfortable balance, making it easier to produce a full, rich sound while still allowing for dynamic control and articulation.

To extend reed life, always moisten them before playing and store them properly in a reed case that allows air circulation. Rotating between several reeds can also help them last longer and perform more consistently. Avoid touching the tip of the reed, and gently clean them after use.
