The genesis of this arrangement was preparation for a recording session where Dr. Caravan was to record this piece on soprano saxophone. His accompanist insisted he should try the piece in the original concert key (C sharp minor) instead of the available transcriptions which are a half step lower or higher. After trying it in this key they decided it was much more effective and this arrangement is the result. While E-flat minor (six flats) may seem like a difficult key, this piece moves slowly and it should not be a problem for any player at intermediate or above level.
